​Raceivers are required in all classes.
Route 44 Speedway competitors license is required for each class.
No alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed. Any driver under the influence of either or both of these faces immediate suspension from all activities concerning Route 44 Speedway for a period of time set forth by promoter.
Age restriction : All drivers must be at least 14 years of age to race.

StreetStock Rules & Regulations

If you race Stock cars at Eldora, Montpelier, Limaland, or North Vernon you ARE legal at Route 44 Speedway.

Raceivers are required in all classes.
Route 44 Speedway competitors license is required for each class.
All cars must have mufflers. THE Shoenfeld 8inch header muffler part # 83535 is the official track muffler. You may run a quieter muffler than the Shoenfeld but you must provide documentation that proves it is quieter. The following mufflers have been approved: Dynatech Split Flow, Shoenfeld 9inch & longer, and the Vortex Cones. Mufflers must be mounted close enough to the end of your exhaust to be inspected. Inside of muffler must be visible by flashlight or by reaching in exhaust and touching inside of muffler. If it cannot be inspected you will have to change it. Be sure mufflers are mounted solid (no hose clamps). If your muffler comes off, you will be disqualified for that event. Do not tamper with your mufflers.         

All cars must be rear wheel drive with a stock front sub frame 108" minimum wheelbase. Front clip
maximum wheel width not to exceed 80” (measured from outside of tire to outside of tire.) Any style of clip may be used with any style of engine (i.e. GM to Ford, Ford to GM). Competition type 4-point roll cage is required and it must be constructed with tubing at least 1.5" in diameter. At least 3 bars are required in the drivers’ door also at least 3 horizontal bars are required between driver and the right side door. Three driver protection bars are required in the windshield in front of the driver. NO TRUCKS, STATION WAGONS, CONVERTIBLES OR COMPACT CARS ALLOWED. 2900 POUND MINIMUM WEIGHT WITH DRIVER AFTER ALL RACING EVENTS.      

Tops, hoods and rear deck lids may be steel, fiberglass or aluminum. After market STOCK APPEARING STEEL & ALUMINUM BODIES will be allowed. Body parts may be stock or fabricated from sheet metal & aluminum. No lips over 1⁄2 inch on bodies, roof or nosepieces. All side panels must be flush with rest of body throughout bodyline. Side panels cannot be taller than hood or trunk lines. No flanges or lips on roof supports. 2 inch max roof rake. Rear deck height not to exceed 39" measured from ground. No bars or objects outside the body or bumpers except for boot bar on the front (MAX BUMPER WIDTH 75"). 8" maximum spoiler. Spoiler supports no higher than the spoiler. Spoilers may be lexan or aluminum. This will be measured from the trunk deck to tip of material. Side supports may be 15” long measured from the bottom forward. Bumpers may be stock or tubing but they must be rolled or capped on the ends. Nose of car may be no more than 12" wider than body of car. Body is 75" maximum. Nose may be maximum of 87" and extend no further back than the center of front tire. Nose must fit into hoop. No wedge nose allowed on any car. Cars with stock OEM fenders and OEM quarter panels will be allowed to use any stock appearing nose piece. Sail panels 2 inch bow max, both sides must be symmetrical.

Firewall and floorboard must completely enclose the drivers' compartment. Decking is allowed behind the drivers’ seat. Dash must be a minimum of 36" forward of decking behind drivers’ seat all the way across, and 36” from outside of drivers door to decking on the right side of drivers compartment. Interiors are permitted to drop to the middle of the car a maximum of 3” below the top of the doors and a minimum of 12” below roll cage. If interior is flat it MUST maintain a 12” clearance from roll cage for easy exiting from either side of car. No flat roofs. Roofs must be curved, from center line of roof there must be a drop of 1 1/2” to the front and 1 1/2” drop to the rear. Do not enclose underside of roof, it must be open.

Stock steering box must remain in stock location for year and make of the sub frame. No chain steering or center steering allowed. The driver must sit in front of the left rear wheel and to the left of the drive shaft. Steering quickening devices will be allowed. It is REQUIRED that the stock rubber coupler on the steering box be replaced with a steel knuckle. Stock unaltered lower A-Frames must be used. A- Frames may be lightened. Tube type after market upper A-Frames allowed. Stock spindles center link must be used. Heims are allowed for tie rod ends but steel tubes MUST BE USED. Weight jacks are allowed on the front only of leaf spring cars but will be allowed on both front and rear of a coil spring cars and they must not be adjustable from the drivers’ compartment. Shocks may be mounted in any location, one shock per wheel. No rear end location devices. NO COIL OVER SHOCKS OR COIL ELIMINATERS. NO LIFT BARS, NO SLIDER BOXES, NO FIBERGLASS LEAF SPRINGS, NO PULL BARS OR REESE BARS. All cars must have 108" minimum wheelbase. NO COMBINATION CARS. Must be leaf springs or coil springs (no combinations of the two). All coil springs must be tethered or cabled. Coil Spring Cars: Rear suspension must have stock length trailing arms. Trailing arms MUST use stock bushings but may be made from tubing (a solid one piece length of tubing) for strength. Coil springs must be in line with the front or rear of the axle tube and level with or above the top plane of the axle tube. Upper trailing arm mounts on rear end housing cannot be adjustable (No multiple-hole mounts). Lower control arm front mount cannot be adjustable . (No multiple-hole mounts) Coil springs must be mounted 90 degrees to the ground, inside or outside of the frame rails within one inch and must resemble stock appearing springs. See Coil Spring Drawing.

No aluminum or mag wheels allowed. No stock wheels allowed on the right side of the car (racing or white spoke wheels recommended). Maximum wheel width 8". Bead locks are allowed. 1" lug nuts are required. Tires – only the Hoosier EMod A40, D40 or H40 compounds will be permitted. No grinding on sidewalls. Recapping is not permitted.

If engine is set back, number one spark plug must be in line with or in front of the centerline of the
upper ball joint. NO ALUMINUM BLOCKS OR HEADS. Carburetors no more than 4 barrels. No fuel injection, turbo chargers, super chargers, nitrous oxide, belt drive fuel pumps, electric fuel pumps, dry sump systems (accusumps are okay). Gas or Alcohol fueled only. Aluminum intakes and headers are allowed. Headers must not pass through the drivers’ compartment. Bert, Brinn or Stock transmissions only. NO QUICK CHANGE.

Automatics may be modified to run without torque converter. Mini clutches are allowed. NO COUPLERS. Car must be self starting and able to move forward and backwards with the engine running. NO ALUMINUM DRIVE SHAFTS! No quick-change rear ends. 9" floater rear-ends okay, but no birdcages. You must run weld-on spring perches. Rear end may be locked with a spool or the spider gears may be welded.

Rear disc brakes will be allowed. NO AFTERMARKET DUAL PISTON CALIPERS ALLOWED.
Super Stocks using single piston aluminum brake calipers must add 50 lbs of lead forward of the front of ball joints. Weight must be no more than 2 pieces and clearly visible painted white. Car must weigh a minimum of 2950 lbs.
Racing brake pedals and hydraulic clutch pedal will be allowed. Tow chains are required on the front and back of the car and must be capable of lifting the weight of the car. Drive shaft hoops are required within 12" of the front of the drive shaft. Drive shaft must be painted white and kept white all year. All batteries, if in the drivers’ compartment, must be completely enclosed in a marine type box with lid and mounted securely. All weights must be mounted securely to the frame or roll cage with two 1/2" bolts. All weights must be painted white and have your car number on them, if they don’t; your car will be weighed without them. MINIMUM WEIGHT 2900 LBS. No radios, computers, transmitting or listening devices. No traction control devices of any kind. All cars must be clearly and neatly lettered with numbers at least 24" high on both sides and top of the car. Your car number must STANDOUT from the other lettering on your car. If you know there is someone with the same number as yours, you may want to add a letter or you may be asked to add an X at the track. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO SEE THAT YOU ARE SCORED.

Driver side nets are highly recommended. Competition seat, 5-point safety harness (not more than 3
years old per manufacturing dates on belts) approved helmet and complete fire suit is required any time your car is on the track. Gloves are recommended but are not mandatory. Fire extinguisher is required in each cars pit area. Fuel cells are required and must be securely mounted with 2" by 1/8" steel strapping. No fuel filters inside the car. Fuel lines that pass through the car must be in steel tubing. Firewall is required between the driver and fuel cell. Seats must be mounted to the roll cage of the car. If you have a fiberglass seat, it must be mounted with bolts at least 3/8" dia. And washers at least 1.5" wide (aluminum seats are recommended). Should harness and lap belts must be securely mounted to the roll cage with 3/8" min. diameter bolts.

Bombers Rules & Regulations

This bomber class is a racing division focused on family participation and is based on rules that will accommodate lower cost and competition. All cars will be subject to inspection at any time and if found illegal will forfeit all money and points for that evening. The intent of all rules in this division is for the safety of all participants. The rules are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury, death to a participant, spectator, or officials.

Chassis & Body Rules:
1. The bomber cars must have a minimum of 106" wheelbase, full framed car. No shortening of factory wheelbase. Rear wheel drive cars only. Uni-body cars must tie frames together with 2" box tubing, and roll cage must be welded to tubing added to frame.

2. Stock appearing body panels only. Fenders, doors, and quarter panels must remain as close as possible to original body lines. No skirting or body panels lower than stock. After market plastic nose and tail pieces allowed. MUST APPEAR STOCK, no wedge noses or late model look alike cars. 
Hood scoops and hole in hood for air filter is acceptable.

3. The car must run original body as make of frame, have full floor boards, and full front fire walls in stock location. May alter rear fire wall, must be enclosed from driver seat back. Patching of rust holes is mandatory.

4. All chrome must be removed inside and out on body of car. Numbers must appear on both doors and roof of car.

5. Doors must be welded, chained, or bolted shut.

6. Competition type 4 point cage mandatory with a minimum of 3 bars in driver door and 2 bars in passenger door. Roll cage is permitted to have brace bars extending through firewall. Roll cage minimum diameter requirement is 1.5”, no smaller will be permitted.

7. Three bars are required in windshield area for driver protection. Five point shoulder harness, racing seat, and fuel cell are required. No outside rub bars allowed. 2" straps are required in the mounting of the fuel cells.

8. Stock bumpers front and rear, a hoop is allowed on front and rear bumper. Support braces to front hoop can be ran to frame but must be within 1" proceeding no further back than the radiator. Rear hoop can be braced inside trunk to frame. Bumper ends may be cut, but must be capped. No hoops extending past bumpers.

9. No mirrors allowed, No Adjustable Brakes.

10. Two driveshaft hoops are mandatory. Drive shafts are to be painted white.

11. If battery is in drivers compartment it must be enclosed in a marine type box with a lid.

12. All weights must be painted white. Weight must be mounted with bolts to the frame or roll cage, not on top of roll cage or on rear bumper.

13. Steering quickeners optional.

1. One shock per wheel. Racing springs are allowed. 

2. Non adjustable racing shocks are allowed, but shocks may be claimed at any time for $100.00 per shock. Claim will be done with track pit steward. If driver refuses to sell shock driver will lose their money and points for that night. 

3. Stock lower A-frames only. May run after market upper in stock location. Stock cross member only and no fabricated X s in frame. 

4. On leaf spring cars, stock spring and stock length spring. ADJUSTABLE SHACKLES NOT PERMITTED.

5. Spoilers Allowed on Trunk only: 8" Max: Side supports may be 15" long from the bottom forward, 2" high in front.

Transmissions & Rear-Ends:
1. Transmission and rear-end must be stock for make and model of car. Ex.GM, to GM Ford to Ford-Mopar to Mopar. Front A arms and trailing arms must use stock rubber bushings.
1A) Ford 9" rear ends may be used but must be mounted in stock location. No aluminum brake calipers.
1B) Ford 9” floaters are allowed.

2. OEM Automatic transmissions only. No direct drives. Must start under own power. Must have working torque converter.

3. Stock location on rear-ends. No lengthening or shortening of control arms.

4. No tucker transmissions.

Wheels & Tires:
1. Any 60 or 70 series street legal tires. No mud and snow tires allowed. No grooving of tires.
~UMP Hoosier Mod Tires-D, A, H are allowed. No grooving or siping allowed. Buffing tires is allowed.

2. Maximum 8" wheels. Oversized lug stud and lug nuts required on right side. 1" lug nuts required. Wheel safety will be strictly enforced.

3. STEEL WHEELS ONLY. Bead locks allowed on right side only.

Motor Rules:
1. No aluminum heads or blocks. Motor must be stock for make and model of car.

2. No dual line "or" double pump carbs allowed. One four barrel, Holley. Quadra jet or Edlebrock ok. No after market carbs. Max 1" spacer allowed. Stock two barrel ok. No alcohol. E85 ok. Promoter has final say on carbs, don’t try to get away with a big carb that is not in the rules or you will not be allowed to race or will be disqualified. 

3. Cast iron and aluminum intakes allowed. 

4. Headers optional. Exhaust turndowns must be minimum 6" behind firewall, max 12" behind firewall.

5. STEEL HEADS ONLY. Factory stock ignition, NO M.S.D. type ignitions. Bolt on aluminum motor parts, example: water pumps are allowed. No external coil ignitions allowed unless OEM part. No angle plug GM heads.

6. Motors must be in stock location. Steel motor mounts are allowed. #1 spark plug must remain in front of ball joint.

7. MUFFLERS are optional.

8. No electric fuel pumps .

9. Weight rule 3200lbs. with driver after race. 3150 lbs for cars with rear drum brakes.

Motor Claim Rule:
PROMOTER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLAIM A COMPETITORS MOTOR AFTER ANY EVENT FOR $1500.00, NO EXCHANGE!! IF PROMOTER CLAIMS MOTOR, COMPETITOR WILL RECEIVE ALL THEIR MONIES, AWARDS, AND POINTS FOR THAT EVENT PROVIDED THEY RELEASE MOTOR! If driver does not sell motor, he will forfeit points and money for that night and be suspended for the rest of season. His car will also not be allowed to participate until the next year.
IF A COMPETITOR WINS 2 FEATURES IN A ROW, THEY MUST START ON THE TAIL OF THE NEXT MAIN EVENT THEY ARE IN. If they win from the tail they must start the tail in the next main event until they do not win.

Window Net Required!
Competition seat required. 5-point safety harness, approved helmet, and fire suit with gloves are required any time your car is on the track. Safety harness must be no more than four years old.
Fuel cells (max 24 gal) required and must be securely mounted with 2" by 1/8" steel strapping. Must be mounted on rear frame.
No fuel cells to be mounted lower than centerline of rear-end and must have fuel cell guard mounted on rear of frame.
No fuel filters inside cockpit. Fuel lines that pass through cockpit must be in steel tubing.
If battery is located in drivers cockpit it must be encased in a marine type box with lid.
Seat belts must be bolted securely to frame or roll cage with Grade 8 bolts and lock nuts or double nutted.
All weights must be painted white and have your car number on them. Weights must be mounted with bolts to frame or roll cage. No weights allowed on top half of roll cage or on rear bumper. No taping or strapping weights on.

No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through tech inspection unobserved.
It is your responsibility to see that your car is legal. If you have any questions, ASK! All cars subject to weekly inspection. There will be no admission or pit fee or entry fees returned if your car can not run that night for whatever reason. Remember, rules may not cover every incident that may occur. Therefore, in those situations the decision of the promoter and/or inspecting official is final. If you are asked to make changes to your car you must do so that night, please do not ask if you can run one week like it is. If your car is found illegal after a race, you forfeit all monies, trophies, and points for that night.
All drivers are responsible for the actions of their pit crews. Any activity that is deemed to be poor conduct will result in the driver, pit crew member and car owner suspended for a time set forth by the promoter and a fine not exceeding $1000.00 will have to be paid before you are allowed to race again.
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for thee orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events and by participating in these events. All participants are deemed to have complied with these rules No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of/or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The race promoter shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

Hornets Rules & Regulations

Raceivers are required in all classes.
Route 44 Speedway competitors license is required for each class.

 American or Foreign front wheel drive, Inline-4 Cylinder Cars Only! 4 passenger cars with a maximum wheelbase of 104 inches.
Examples of cars to fit this class: Neon, Storm, Corolla, Nissan Sentra, VW Golf, VW Jetta, 92-98 Grand Am, Saturn, Cavalier, Sunfires, etc.

The follows makes/models are NOT permitted:
Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Honda CRX, or Plymouth Lasers. No Trucks, vans, or convertibles.
No Turbo Charges or Super Charged vehicles. No carburetor cars allowed. Fuel injection only, No Nitrous Oxide.

1. The Following must be removed:
a. Chrome
b. Glass
c. Lights
d. Mirrors
e. Airbags
All broken glass must be completely vacuumed from car.

2. Dashboard may remain, but all other interior items must be removed. Dash cover may be aluminum.

3. Safety Racing Seat Required: A set with right-side containment is strongly recommended.

4. Each vehicle must contain a 5-point harness. Each driver must wear an approved helmet, fire suit, and racing gloves.

5. Driver door net or triangle.

6. All cars must have tow-chains and be rear capable of lifting car.

7. Stock fuel tanks and fuel cells are allowed.

8. Battery may be moved to passenger side floor board, but must be secured in a marine type box.

9. A competition type 4-pont roll cage (1 ½ minimum steel tubing) with a minimum of three driver door bars. You may run bars from back of cage down to the floor pan.

10. Hood must be pinned and stock hood release removed.

11. Engine must be in stock and same for year and make of model. No race engines. Engines must have no less than 17” of vacuum when tested. Exhaust must exit under car.

11a. Stock/Unaltered ECM/Computers only. No After-Market ECM/Computers.
Promoter has the option to claim a competitors ECM/Computer at any time on any car competing for $100.00 If you refuse, you will forfeit all money & points for that race and will be banned from competing at future events.

12. Aluminum wheels are allowed 13”, 14” , 15” ,16" , & 17" only with a maximum width of 7”. Tires must be street legal DOT radials. No grooving or siping of tires. No racing tires or retreads will be permitted.

13. Stock body parts only. No homemade body panels or spoilers. No aluminum interiors. All holes in the firewall must be covered with aluminum or steel.

14. Maximum of 5 degrees of camber will be permitted on any wheel.
Rear wheels may NOT be turned.

15. Cars must be numbered on both sides and top with a minimum of 18” numbers.

16. All drivers must have a raceceiver radio. These are available for purchase or rent on race day.

17. Transmission: All forward and reverse gears must be operational. Lock differentials of any type will NOT be permitted.

18. Weight: Minimum Weight is 2300 lbs.

This is an economy class that requires a minimal investment. Drivers must be at least 14 years of age. A copy of birth certificate may be requested for minor participants.

Promoter reserves the right to claim any dominate car for $1400. Refusal to sell will forfeit any winnings and points in this class for that nights event and driver will not be permitted to race for the remainder of the season. Don’t over-spend.
Feature Winner starts no better than 10th at the next race.
Rules may not cover every incident that may occur and are subject to change. Therefore in these situations, it will be up to the discretion of track officials.
